This major continental championship, to be held in the capital of the Dominican Republic from June 11 to 17 this year, will feature competitions in the Cadet, Junior, and Senior categories, as well as for women and men. The championship is organized by the Dominican Kurash Federation (Fedokurash) with the approval of the Pan-American Kurash Union (PKU). All competitions will be held under the rules of the International Kurash Association (IKA).
On the eve of the championship, an extensive program of the Pan-American Kurash Week will be implemented. As part of this program, several important events are planned for Kurash professionals:
– Courses and seminars: an opportunity to study in depth the theoretical and practical aspects of Kurash.
– Referee examinations: qualification upgrading of International referees and training of new referees.
– Technical seminars for coaches: Forming professional skills and improving the qualifications of coaches.
These events are important preparations for the Pan-American Main Championship and the International Beach Kurash Tournament.
As part of the Pan-American Kurash Week, the Congress and Directing Committee of the Pan-American Kurash Union will meet.
The meetings will address the future of Kurash in the regions, strategies for its development, and cooperation among national federations.
The Directing Committee of the Pan-American Kurash Union coordinates the organization of these weekly high-level events. The Committee is chaired by the President of the Union, Mr. Jaime Casanova Martinez. He is accompanied by Vice President Elizabeth Thompson (Chile) and General Secretary Julian Abreu Jimenez (USA).
Luis Bogantes (Costa Rica) in technology management, Alcimedes Ortiz Cruz (Dominican Republic) in refereeing, and Ulric Louis-Charles (Haiti) are also active in technical areas.
This extensive and coordinated work will ensure a high level of the Pan-American Kurash Championships and further develop the sport in the region.
