January 27 — On the occasion of the Day of Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Officers, a National Kurash Championship was organized in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Nearly 150 staff members from the systems of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of National Security, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Migration Agency, and the State Customs Committee participated in the competition, demonstrating their skills on the gilam.
According to Ovezmuhammet Atalyyev, President of the Kurash Federation of Turkmenistan, this championship, held for the first time in such a wide-ranging format with the participation of state agency employees, featured intense and exciting competitions. It was also noted that an agreement was reached with the participating organizations to hold this competition annually on a traditional basis in the future.
Based on the results of the championship held at the sports complex of the Academy of the Ministry of Defense, the team of the Ministry of Defense took first place in the overall team standings. The Ministry of Internal Affairs came in second, and the State Border Service team was awarded third place.
