The next day of the Pan American Championship, hosted by the Dominican Republic in Santo Domingo and the beaches of Boca Chica, was dedicated to competitions among seniors, cadets and juniors.
The championship began with an official opening ceremony. It was attended by the President of the Pan American Kurash Union Jaime Cassanova Martinez, the Head of the Organising Committee Israel Carabao, PKU Director of Technology Luis Bogantes, Professor of the International Kurash Institute Kim Eur Joong, officials of the Uzbekistan Kurash Federation Uygun Umarov and Sarvarkhodja Abboskhodjaev, as well as delegations and sports teams from 15 countries.
At the event, PKU President Mr. Casanova expressed his gratitude to the International Kurash Association, the Dominican Kurash Federation and all partners for their assistance in organising this championship and the Kurash Week at a high level. It was also emphasised that the sport of Kurash in the Pan American region is becoming increasingly popular.
After the opening ceremony, the competitions began. The championship competitions were held in a spirit of high competition, uncompromising battles and sportsmanship. The competitions held in different age categories left a great impression on the participants and spectators.
At the end of the competition, according to the results of the overall team medal collection:
Dominican Republic – first place
Costa Rica – second place
Guatemala – third place
Mexico – fourth place
Panama – fifth place.
The winners and prize-winners of the championship were awarded medals, diplomas, and important points for the WSP (World Series of Points) rating of the International Kurash Association.
Also, the Continental Championship in Beach Kurash was held as part of the Pan-American Kurash Week, which also became a bright sporting celebration for the participants.
