The General Secretary of the International Kurash Association (IKA), Mohammad Reza Nassiri, visited India to participate in the first qualification round of the IKA referees’ ranking, which is taking place in Saharanpur from February 22 to 27 this year. This event is part of the “Road to the Asian Games” program and also includes, for the first time, exams for coaches to obtain A and B Category license in Kurash.

Saharanpur, located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, has become the venue for this prestigious event. The General Secretary traveled from Delhi to Saharanpur, a journey that took four hours by road. During his visit, he inspected the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Complex and conference halls. These activities were organized in collaboration with IKA Technical Director Ravi Kapoor and the General-Secretary of the Indian Kurash Association, Vikrant Kumar. The General-Secretary  shared his opinions and suggestions on organizational matters.

They also visited the new office of the Indian Kurash Association, which is under construction in Saharanpur. The guests participated in a coconut lighting ceremony, a symbol of goodwill in Indian culture.

It is important to mention that  Saharanpur is one of the largest cities in India and is believed to be named after the saint Shah Harun Chishti. In recent years, the city has become one of the most important centers for Kurash in India. The city regularly hosts events ranging from international Kurash seminars to national championships and major tournaments. Now, the new office of the Indian Kurash Association will also be located in this city.
