
Acting President of the International Kurash Association, Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov, held an online meeting with the President of the European Kurash Confederation, Merampi Iliadis. During the meeting, preparations for the European Championships to be held in Bulgaria were discussed.
Mr. Iliadis presented a report on the preparations for the competition and informed that, to date, more than 20 national federations have submitted applications to participate in the Championships. He noted that all organizational activities are being coordinated by an organizing committee established by the Bulgarian Kurash Federation and the European Kurash Confederation.
It was noted that the European Seniors, Junior and Cadet Championships will be held on 14–17 September 2026 in Panagyurishte, Bulgaria. Leading athletes from across the continent are expected to compete for victory at the prestigious event.
As part of the Championships, the International Kurash Institute is planning to organize international seminars for referees and coaches, as well as examinations for the IKA 1-star and 2-star qualification levels.
At the same time, it was noted that work is underway to arrange live broadcasts of the Championship through Bulgaria’s national television and radio channels, as well as via the YouTube platform.
Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov emphasized that organizing the competition at a high level would contribute to further strengthening the standing of Kurash on the European continent and stated that the IKA would provide the necessary organizational and methodological support.
