
On August 29, 2026, the 2nd “Ambassador of Uzbekistan Cup” was held at Duksung Women’s University in Seoul, Korea, determining its winners.
Organized by the Korean Kurash Federation in cooperation with the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Korea, the tournament was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
More than 200 athletes took part in the tournament, demonstrating the growing popularity of Kurash in Korea. The event brought together athletes, coaches, officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives of the international Kurash community on one platform.
One of the highlights of the event was the broad participation of the international diplomatic community. Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Russia, Pakistan, Mongolia, and Belarus attended the competition.
In particular, His Excellency Alisher Abdusalomov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Korea, addressed the opening ceremony and emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of sports.
As part of the tournament, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Duksung Women’s University and the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Korea. The document aims to promote cooperation in the fields of education, scientific research, and cultural exchange.
President of the Korean Kurash Federation Bae Hyeong Sik said:
“The 2nd ‘Ambassador of Uzbekistan Cup’ not only demonstrated the rapid development of Kurash in Korea, but also served as an important platform for strengthening sports diplomacy, cultural exchange, and international cooperation.”
