The XV World Kurash Championship among Seniors will be held from November 4 to 9 this year in Astana, Kazakhstan.
This major international sporting event will bring together the world’s strongest Kurash athletes, coaches, referees, heads of national federations, and sports professionals from different countries on one platform.
The championship holds particular significance for Kazakhstan. For the first time in the country’s history, Astana will host the World Kurash Championship and will become the center of the global Kurash family for several days.
The World Championship will take place at the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Palace of Martial Arts. The competition programme will feature bouts in all weight categories for men and women, the opening ceremony, semi-final and final contests, as well as the award ceremonies.
The World Championship in Astana will not be limited to sporting competitions alone. In accordance with tradition, the IKA Directing Committee meeting and the XXII Ordinary Congress of the International Kurash Association will also be held as part of the championship programme. These meetings will address the further development of Kurash worldwide, strengthening international cooperation, and the priorities for the future development of the sport.
In addition, the programme includes an IKA Anti-Doping Seminar, refereeing and coaching seminars, as well as international refereeing examinations.
The organizers are currently making preparations to provide all necessary services and conditions, including arrival and departure arrangements, hotel accommodation, catering, and transportation to the competition and training venues. Official delegations will be accommodated at the King Hotel.
The President of the Kazakhstan Kurash Federation, Andrey Borgens, noted that hosting the championship is a great responsibility for the country, while also representing an important opportunity to demonstrate Kazakhstan’s capacity to organize major international sporting events at a high organizational level.
Registration of participants is currently being carried out through the IKA Registration System.
The final registration deadline is October 4.
