Yesterday, the next meeting of the International Kurash Association-IKA Directing Committee was held. Within the framework of about ten issues included in the meeting agenda, the organisation’s priorities and future plans were discussed in detail.

In particular, opinions were exchanged on the issue of accepting the Swiss, Italian and Sri Lankan Kurash Federations into the IKA membership. It was decided that the final decision on this issue will be submitted to the IKA Congress, which will be held within the framework of the World Championships in Kazakhstan.

The issues of systematically organising continental championships, as well as establishing Kurash competitions within the framework of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) program, were also in the spotlight. These initiatives are significant in that they are aimed at expanding the scope of Kurash and developing it as an inclusive sport.

IKA President Haider Farman, who chaired the meeting, specifically touched upon the organisational issue. He noted that the resignation of Indian statesman and public figure Jagdish Tytler, who had been the First Vice President of the organisation for many years, has been accepted by the Directing Committee.

The candidacy of Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov, who was the Vice President of the IKA for International Collaboration and Games, for the position of First Vice President of the IKA has been unanimously approved.

Ziyoviddin Khodzhiniyazov is one of the specialists with extensive experience and solid authority in the Kurash movement. Since 2000, he has held various responsible positions in the system of the International Kurash Association, including Director of the International Relations Department, Deputy Secretary General, and Secretary General of the Kurash Confederation of Asia.

With his direct participation and organisational potential, more than 100 prestigious international Kurash tournaments, continental and world championships, as well as competitions within the framework of the Asian Games, have been organised at a high level.

This appointment is an important step towards the further systematic development of Kurash on the international stage, increasing its prestige and taking it to a new level.
