On March 20, 2026, a meeting took place in Riga, the capital of Latvia, between the President of the Lithuanian Kurash Federation, Aleksandr Pavlov, and the Vice-President of the Federation, Vladimiras Mataitis, with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Latvia, Timur Rakhmonov, and the Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan in Latvia, Vladimir Galperin.

During the meeting, matters regarding the systematic development of Kurash in Lithuania and the Baltic states, further strengthening international cooperation, the gradual improvement of sports infrastructure, and enhancing the international prestige of this ancient sport were thoroughly discussed.

The International Kurash Association highly appreciates the outcomes of this dialogue and supports initiatives aimed at the strategic development of Kurash in Lithuania. In the near future, priorities include regularly organising national championships and international competitions in the country, as well as widely promoting Kurash across all regions to actively engage young people in this sport.

These initiatives are also of particular importance from the perspective of ensuring the implementation of tasks outlined in the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ–450 of December 20, 2024, concerning the global promotion of Kurash, enhancing its international prestige, and developing national Kurash schools in foreign countries.
