Acting President of the International Kurash Association (IKA), Mr. Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov, held an online meeting with Mr. Hyeong Sik Bae, Chairman of the IKA Sports Committee and Director on peace through sport. The meeting focused on strengthening international sports cooperation, promoting the ideals of peace through Kurash, and discussing the Association’s key strategic priorities.
During the meeting, Mr. Khodjiniyazov instructed Mr. Hyeong Sik Bae to prepare a comprehensive presentation for the upcoming IKA Congress and Directing Committee Meeting, featuring new projects, programmes, and initiatives aimed at further developing the “Peace through Sport” direction. It was emphasised that the proactive engagement and practical contributions of Directing Committee members play a vital role in the successful implementation of the IKA’s strategic objectives.
Particular attention was also given to expanding athletes’ participation in international competitions, especially by developing support mechanisms for athletes from countries facing difficult circumstances. In this regard, the participants discussed opportunities to ensure the participation of athletes from countries such as Afghanistan and Palestine in international Kurash events, thereby further strengthening Kurash’s role in promoting peace, solidarity, and mutual understanding.
Within the framework of the Sports Committee’s activities, it was also agreed to work jointly with IKA Technical Director Mr. Ravi Kapoor on developing a unified standard and educational system for the training and certification of International Technical Officials (ITOs).
The meeting also explored opportunities for cooperation with the international organisation “Peace and Sport” and ways to ensure the IKA’s active participation in its projects and programmes. It was noted that regular progress reports on the implementation of these initiatives should be submitted to the IKA Headquarters and that the achieved results should be widely communicated to the international Kurash community and the public.
The online meeting was attended by the IKA General Secretary Mr. Mohammad Reza Nassiri, Head of the IKA Administration Mr. Mansur Mirzaev, IKA President’s Advisor Mr. Umid Yakubov, and IKA staff members.
