On March 15, 2026, a significant new chapter in the history of Kurash was written in Hong Kong, China. The first-ever national championship of Kurash Usuls was organised at the Sham Shui Po Sports Centre.

A total of 30 local athletes participated in this competition. During the competition, eight techniques were demonstrated for each Usul across Kurash Usul groups 1-7, and the participants’ skills were evaluated based on international standards. Specifically, a modern technical system, developed by the International Kurash Association, the International Kurash Institute, and the Kurash Confederation of Asia, was used during the evaluation process.

Furthermore, a two-hour educational seminar was organised as a part of the championship. Demonstrations of Kurash Usuls were held for the participants, and issues related to correctly presenting the key aspects of each technique were thoroughly explained.

The seminar was led by the President of the Hong Kong Kurash Federation and international-level coach, TSE Lai Yee Michelle, along with the Federation’s General Secretary, CHUNG Yuk Keung.

This competition and educational process are recognised as an important step in deeply mastering the technical foundations of Kurash in Hong Kong, preparing a new generation of athletes, and implementing a system that meets international standards.
