The Kurash competitions have officially started on the opening day of the 20th Asian Games, currently being held in Aichi–Nagoya, Japan.
Today, the winners will be determined in the women’s -57 kg and men’s +90 kg weight categories. A total of 32 athletes representing 22 countries across the continent will compete for the Asian Games titles in these weight categories.
The Martial Arts Hall sports complex in Aichi Prefecture has been specially decorated in a festive atmosphere for the Kurash competitions. Extensive preparations have been carried out in accordance with Olympic standards to ensure the competitions are organized at the highest level.
The opening ceremony of the Kurash competitions has just concluded.
During the ceremony, representatives of the participating countries marched in a ceremonial parade.
The event was attended by Acting President of the International Kurash Association (IKA) Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov, President of the Asian Kurash Confederation Komil Ruziyev, IKA General Secretary Muhammad Reza Nassiri, as well as officials from the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Organizing Committee of the 20th Asian Games.
Media representatives from more than 10 Asian countries, as well as Japan, the host country, have arrived to cover the Kurash competitions. This demonstrates the growing popularity and interest in Kurash across the continent.
Furthermore, with the permission of the Olympic Council of Asia, the International Kurash Association is broadcasting the Kurash competitions live on IKA’s official YouTube channel.
