The Ordinary Congress of the African Kurash Union was held in Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa, within the framework of the 22nd African Kurash Championship among Seniors, Juniors and Cadets.

The Сongress addressed important issues concerning the further development of kurash on the African continent, support for the activities of national federations, expanding the geographic reach of competitions, and enhancing the prestige of the sport on the continent.

Thomas Dunker, President of the African Kurash Union, who chaired the congress, provided an update on the work being done and the agreements reached regarding the inclusion of Kurash in the program of the All-African Games. Special mention was made of the support provided in this regard by Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov, Acting President of the International Kurash Association.

Elections were also held during the Congress for the Directing Committee of the African Kurash Union for the 2026–2030 term.

Delegates highly commended Thomas Dunker’s efforts to develop Kurash on the continent; he was re-elected as president of the African Kurash Union.

Martil Ngoka was also elected Vice President, and Urban Keya was elected General Secretary.
