Iranian Military Sports Leadership has confirmed Participation in the World Kurash Challenge

An important meeting was held at the Central Headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran within the framework of the International Military Sports Council (CISM).

The meeting was attended by CISM Executive Committee Member and Head of the Iranian CISM Delegation, Brigadier General Jamshid Fooladi, his deputies, International Kurash Association (IKA) General Secretary Mohammad Reza Nassiri, IKA Representative for Relations with CISM Colonel Khani Esfandabadi, and Representative of the Iran Kurash Association Colonel Iraj Akbarloo.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the further development of Kurash within the military sports system, strengthening cooperation between CISM and the IKA, and preparations for upcoming international competitions.

Brigadier General Jamshid Fooladi officially confirmed that the Iranian delegation will participate in the World Kurash Challenge in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with both men’s and women’s teams. He also expressed Iran’s readiness to work closely with the Uzbek side to ensure the successful organisation of this prestigious event.

For his part, IKA General Secretary Mohammad Reza Nassiri expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Iranian delegation to Uzbekistan and emphasised his confidence that the World Kurash Challenge would become one of the most significant and historic events in the history of international Kurash, organised to the highest standards.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties exchanged commemorative gifts and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in the future.

The final deadline for athlete registration is 10 August 2026.
