Acting President of the International Kurash Association (IKA) Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov held an online meeting with Merampi Iliadis, President of the European Kurash Confederation. During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of Kurash across the European continent, the organisation of the European Championships, and preparations for upcoming international competitions.

During the meeting, Merampi Iliadis informed that the European Championships would not be held in Romania, as previously included in the IKA Calendar Plan, but instead would take place in Bulgaria on 15–16 September of the current year. He also emphasised that the preparations for the event are being carried out in cooperation with the Bulgarian Kurash Federation and the country’s Ministry of Sport.

Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov noted that further promoting Kurash throughout Europe and strengthening its position on the international stage are among the IKA’s key priorities. In this regard, he announced that a meeting with Spyros Capralos, President of the European Olympic Committees, is being planned and entrusted Merampi Iliadis with coordinating the preparatory work for the meeting.

The participants also exchanged views on ensuring the participation of athletes from European countries in the CISM World Military Games and the World Kurash Senior Championship, as well as on further strengthening cooperation in this area.

The online meeting was attended by Mansur Mirzaev, Head of the Administration of the International Kurash Association, IKA President’s Advisors Umid Yakubov and Abbos Tuychiboev, as well as staff members of the International Relations and Media Department.
