At the initiative of the International Kurash Association (IKA), an important online technical meeting was held with the participation of representatives of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), members of the Organising Committee of the 2026 Asian Games, and specialists from Borna, the official IT partner of the Games.
During the meeting, under the leadership of the IKA Sports Director Hyeong Sik Bae and Technical Director Ravi Kapoor, Kurash scoring system and competition format were thoroughly analysed. Discussions focused on the sport’s dynamic nature, the distinctive features of its scoring process, and ways to manage the tempo of matches more effectively.
Kurash differs from other similar sports in terms of its rules and philosophy. For this reason, its scoring system requires a distinct approach. From this perspective, improving scoring mechanisms on the basis of modern technologies and international standards was identified as a priority task.
The constructive exchange of views among experts enabled the development of clear proposals and directions aimed at refining refereeing criteria, enhancing the transparency and clarity of the scoring system, and improving the overall quality of competitions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue systematic technical cooperation aimed at strengthening Kurash’s position on the international sporting stage, while preserving its traditional values, as well as promoting its development at both continental and global levels.
