The 15th World Kurash Senior Championship was scheduled to be held from 31 January to 5 February this year in the city of Bojnord in the Islamic Republic of Iran. However, the competition was postponed due to the political situation in the country. The prestigious championship will now be hosted by Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Today, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan on organising matters of this prestigious competition at a high level. It was attended by Yerbol Myrzabossynov, Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov, Vice-President of the International Kurash Association, Mansur Mirzaev, Head of the IKA Administration, and Andrey Borgens, President of the Kazakhstan National Association of Kurash Sports Federations.

During the meeting, Minister Yerbol Myrzabossynov noted that Kurash has become one of the modern sports that is rapidly developing in the world today, and noted that Kazakhstan has all the opportunities and infrastructure to hold this championship at the highest level.

In turn, Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov , Vice-President of the International Kurash Association, specifically recognised the high results achieved by Kazakhstan athletes in international arenas, noting that this is the result of systematic and consistent reforms being carried out in the sports sector in the country.

The 15th World Kurash Senior Championship will be held in Astana at the end of June this year. In order to organise the competition at a high level, an appropriate organising committee has been formed and preparatory work has begun.
