On the eve of the nationwide holiday Navruz, a prestigious competition for the Cup of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kurash was organized at a high level in the city of Termez.
This sporting festival, which brought together over 10,000 spectators, was significant not only for its fierce contests but also as a practical expression of state attention directed toward our beloved sport.
The intense bouts in the absolute weight category, in particular, added special excitement to the competition.
As noted by the Governor of Surkhandarya region, who also serves as the chairman of the regional Kurash Federation, Ulugbek Kosimov, large-scale work is being carried out in the region to fundamentally strengthen kurash infrastructure based on the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Honorary President of the International Kurash Association.
In particular:
Modern training centers are being established on the grounds of sanatoriums in the Sherabad and Denov districts, as well as at the “Zamondosh” camp.
Additionally, a modern Kurash complex will be built in the Darband village of Boysun district. Kurash school in Boysun district will also be incorporated into the state education system.
These initiatives will serve to further strengthen Surkhandarya’s longstanding status as the “land of polvons,” to train a new generation of champions, and to enhance the international prestige of kurash.
