
According to the official competition calendar plan for 2026 by the International Kurash Association, Uzbekistan will host the Asian Cup competition twice this year.
The international tournament dedicated to the memory of Pahlavon Mahmud, which has been traditionally held since 2018 for the Prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, will now be organized as an Asian Cup among youth. The prestigious competition will be hosted by the city of Urganch, Khorezm region. The competitions, taking place from April 17th to 20th, will see talented young athletes from Kurash Federations across the Asian continent compete for victory. The winners of the competition will be awarded the Prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan along with monetary prizes.
It should be noted that the international tournament in memory of Pahlavon Mahmud has been held successfully several times in previous years in the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan, as well as in the city of Esfarayen in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Furthermore, another Asian Open Cup competition will be organized in the city of Nukus, Republic of Karakalpakstan, in 2026. According to the Uzbekistan Kurash Federation, this senior-level competition will take place from May 22nd to 25th. Athletes from all over the world will step onto the Gilam to compete for championships in both individual men&women and team events across all 16 weight categories. The results of the senior Open Cup competitions will also be included in the IKA Ranking System.
