On August 30, 2025, a bright and significant chapter was opened in the history of the Moldovan Kurash Federation. For the first time in the country’s history, the Moldova Kurash Championship among both cadets and seniors was held in the city of Călărași. A total of 130 skilled Kurash athletes from 10 regions of the country competed for victory.
This championship became not only a symbol of the growing popularity of Kurash in Moldova, but also an important step toward shaping a new generation of athletes. Every match on the Kurash arena was remembered for the participants’ courage, mastery, and determination.
The opening ceremony of the championship was organised at a high level. Among the honored guests were the Mayor of Călărași, Mr. Victor Ambroci, and the President of the Moldovan Kurash Federation, Mr. Mihail Fistican.
During the ceremony, the Federation’s president addressed all the participants, emphasising that the main goal of this championship was to select the national team for the upcoming World Kurash Championship this year.
The initiative undertaken by the Moldovan Kurash Federation will definitely serve to increase interest in Kurash in the country and contribute to its wider promotion.
