
On August 1st, 2025, the VII Congress of the Kurash Confederation of Asia was held in the conference hall of the J One Hotel in Cheongju, South Korea.
The conference, attended by leaders from about 25 national federations, the General Secretary of the International Kurash Association Mohammad Reza Nassiri, Technical Director Ravi Kapoor, Head of the IKA Administration Mansur Mirzaev, President of the Kurash Confederation of Asia Komil Ruziyev, Vice President Hameed Farman, Secretary General Farrukh Saidkulov, Rector of the International Kurash Institute Khabibulla Tadjiev, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Seoul Sardor Sadikov, leaders of the city of Goesan and Jungwon University, as well as international observers, discussed important issues regarding the prospects of Kurash on the continent, institutional reforms and prospects for cooperation.
Opening the Congress, the President of the KCA, Komil Ruziev, welcomed the guests and delegates in his speech and expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Korean Kurash Federation, the Geosan City Administration, and Jungwon University for hosting the conference.
“Today’s Congress is another serious step for the development of Kurash, which combines ancient and modern values,” the President of the KCA recognised.
Komil Ruziev also emphasised that the Asian Championship among seniors, cadets, and juniors, which will start tomorrow, is an important test for everyone and a qualifying process for international competitions.
Within the framework of the Congress agenda, the President of the Korean Kurash Federation and the Chairman of the Championships’ Organising Committee, Bae Heongsik, spoke and provided information on the preparations for the Championships, the reception of delegations and the timing of the Championships matches, and many other organisational issues.
During the Congress, the Secretary General Farrukh Saidkulov read out a report on behalf of the First Vice-President of the KCA, Bakhriddin Valiev. It noted the system of support for Kurash in Asia and in the world by the government of Uzbekistan and the work being done in this sphere.
According to the agenda of the meeting, the heads and representatives of the regional federations of Central, East, South and Southeast Asia presented their reports.
The planned championships, beach Kurash, and cooperation projects for the current year were discussed.
At the congress, the General Secretary of the International Kurash Association, Mohammad Reza Nassiri, provided detailed information on the procedure for holding the international tournament – WSP (World Series Pro). He noted that this tournament is aimed at ensuring the professional growth of Kurash athletes, making the tournament system competitive, and increasing the prestige of Kurash in the world sports system.
The congress also discussed: proposals to host the 2026 Asian Championships, the issue of appointing an interim technical director, and the exchange of experience between member countries, as well as the establishment of training and training programs.
“Today’s Congress is not just a reporting conference, but a platform for unifying the Kurash movement on our continent, opening new paths, and giving confidence in the future,” said the President of the KCA at the end of the Congress.
The Congress officially ended. Delegates took part in a traditional photo session.
