A number of important and prestigious events are currently being organised as part of the ongoing Pan-American Kurash Championship in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The championship is held in a weekly format and is enriched with various seminars, meetings and conferences.

One of these events was the successful holding of the Ordinary Congress of the Pan-American Kurash Union. It was attended in person by the heads of national federations of 17 countries, including the Dominican Republic, Chile, Brazil, Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, the USA, Haiti and Cuba. Representatives of 3 more countries also participated online via videoconference.

The President of the Pan-American Kurash Union, Jaime Casanova, presented his report at the Congress, highlighting the work done in recent years, existing problems and solutions. More than 10 important issues were discussed at the meeting.

The Directing Committee members discussed the calendar and organisational work of the official Kurash competitions planned to be held on the continent throughout 2025,

Strategies for further popularisation of Kurash in each national federation;

Additional assistance and responsibility for weak federations;

Presentations were made on joint programs in the fields of education, coaching and refereeing.

Following the Congress, a number of organisational decisions were made and relevant instructions were given to member federations. This meeting will serve as one of the important steps for the broad development of the sport of Kurash in the Pan-American region.
