
An international scientific-practical conference titled “Current Issues in the Development of Kurash Sport” was held in Tashkent.
Kurash is not only a historical heritage but is also becoming an important part of today’s and tomorrow’s world of sports. A scientific approach, digital analysis, modern education, and International cooperation are key factors that will determine the success of Kurash in the new era.
Today, on May 7th, a significant event—the International Scientific-Practical Conference—began its work in the conference hall of the Dedeman Silk Road Hotel in Tashkent, covering the current state of Kurash, its influence on the international stage, and future development.
This conference was organized on the initiative of the International Kurash Institute, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Sports, the Uzbekistan State University of Physical Education and Sports, Tashkent State Transport University, and the International Kurash Association.
The opening ceremony of the conference took place in a highly spirited and festive atmosphere. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including: Adkham Ikramov, Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan and First Vice-President of the International Kurash Association; Haider Farman, President of the International Kurash Association; Oybek Kasimov, Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee; IKA Vice-Presidents Sherzodkhon Kudratkhodja and Komil Ruziev; Mohammad Reza Nassiri General Secretary of IKA ; Mansur Mirzaev, Head of the IKA Administration, Daniel Abayev, Comission member of the IKA, Khabibulla Tajiev, Rector of the International Kurash Institute; Bakhtiyor Kadirov, First Deputy Chairman of the Uzbekistan Kurash Federation; Sardor Karimov, Assistant to the Chairman; and other esteemed guests, including , experts, and professors from nearly 20 foreign countries.
As emphasized during the meeting, Kurash is not merely a sport but a grand heritage that embodies the centuries-old history and spiritual culture of our people- a living philosophy and an essential school in raising a well-rounded generation. Today, Kurash has not only secured its place as a national sport but has also gained international recognition, uniting representatives of different nations around universal values such as honesty, nobility, and justice.
During the conference, experts highlighted the consistent attention given to Kurash under the support of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the adoption of regulatory and legal documents, and the implementation of scientific and systematic reforms. The rigorous efforts to include Kurash in the Olympic Games program, its role and significance in global sports, as well as pressing issues related to its widespread promotion, were thoroughly discussed.
At the plenary session of the conference, experts and professors from Iran, India, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Poland, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries participated with their scientific presentations.
Among them, Professor Fikrat Kerimov from the Uzbekistan State University of Physical Education and Sports delivered a lecture on “The Application of Artificial Intelligence in the Analysis of Kurash Competition Activities,” highlighting the possibilities of implementing sports analytics on a digital basis.
Iranian Professor Hassan Roshanaie shared his insights on “Kurash Training for Children.” Meanwhile, Indian Professor Santosh Telu spoke about “The most common injuries in Kurash and how to avoid them.”
Professor Chang Kai Feng from Chinese Taipei presented on “Development of Kurash in Asia, with an Example from the Asian Games.” Additionally, Professor Kamil Mukhammadiev, Vice-Rector of the International Kurash Institute, elaborated on “Scientific and practical bases of training of qualified specialists in Kurash.”
