As part of the European Kurash Championship taking place in Batumi, Georgia, a significant and symbolic award ceremony was held by the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan and First Vice President of the International Kurash Association, Adkham Ikramov.
Within the framework of the ordinary Congress of the European Kurash Confederation, the President of this organization, as well as the Vice-president of the International Kurash Association, Merampi Iliadis, was awarded the medal”Excellent in Physical Culture and Sports” of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
This prestigious national award was presented in recognition of Merampi Iliadis’s fruitful cooperation with Uzbek sports officials, his efforts in widely promoting the sport of Kurash in Europe and globally, and his contributions to establishing a healthy lifestyle through sports.
Merampi Iliadis is a prominent sports figure based in Greece. Since 2011, he has been serving as the President of the European Kurash Confederation. He is also the Vice-president of the International Kurash Association and a representative of the International Sambo Federation. Thanks to his initiatives, Kurash has been developing and holding official competitions in more than 20 European countries.
The ceremony was attended by heads from the International Kurash Association, the Ministry of Sports of Georgia, representatives of several national federations from across Europe, official delegates, and sports journalists.
