The growing global popularity of Kurash is driving an increasing demand for skilled coaches and referees, prompting a key international seminar for Kurash experts in Batumi, Georgia, from April 9-14, 2025. This seminar, organized by the International Kurash Association (IKA), the International Kurash Institute (IKI) and the European Kurash Confederation (EKC), will be held as part of the European Kurash Championship.
The event aims to elevate the expertise of Kurash practitioners across Europe, bringing together leading figures in the field. Notable international experts such as Dr. Mohammadvahid Pouresfandiar, Reza Nassiri ( IKI Head Expert), and Dr. Shukhrat Kurbanov will share their knowledge and insights during the seminar.
A key highlight will be the training sessions for coaches, where they will learn the latest modern training methods (Usul), while referees will be introduced to new competition rules and principles for international events. The expected outcome is a significant improvement in the quality of competitions, the development of new talent, and the overall growth of Kurash across Europe.
The seminar will also play a vital role in promoting collaboration and experience-sharing among experts. Coaches and referees attending the event will have the opportunity to take coaching exams for the IKA B license and IKA 1-2 star refereeing level, solidifying their qualifications and contributing to the continued professionalization of the sport.
As the seminar unfolds, participants will have the chance to observe the competitive spirit of the European Kurash Championship firsthand, as referees directly oversee the competitions, with their performances evaluated by the attending experts. This gathering represents a significant step forward for the European Kurash community, further strengthening the exchange of expertise and enhancing cooperation across the continent.
