Systematic reforms to develop sports continue within the Iran Kurash Association. Recently, several key appointments have been made in the organization’s heads. These changes are supported by the Iranian government to further popularize and develop Kurash both nationally and at the International Arena.
At the beginning of this year, the General Secretary of the International Kurash Association (IKA) and President of the Iran Kurash Association, Mohammad Reza Nassiri, held a meeting with Iran’s Minister of Sports, Ahmad Donya Mali, President of the National Olympic Committee, Khosravi Vafo and Amir Sedighi President of Iran Wushu Federation.
During this meeting, discussions focused on increasing the popularity of Kurash in the country, improving state support systems, and educating the younger generation based on national sports traditions as well as focusing on the upcoming Asian Games, Islamic Solidarity Games etc..
As a result of this meeting, several important personnel appointments were made in the Iran Kurash Association:
• Saeid Ghomi was appointed as 1st Vice President of the Iran Kurash Association.
• Leila Zakizadeh was appointed as Vice President for Women’s Kurash.
• Mostafa Dalirian was appointed as 2nd Vice President of the Iran Kurash Association.
• Hasan Roshanaie took on the role of Strategic Manager and first adviser. Previously, he served as the IKA Referees Director
• Abbas Sheibak was appointed as the new General Secretary of the Association.
These leadership changes are expected to continue at different committees which will hopefully open up Kurash all over Iran and around the world. The International Kurash Association congratulates the new leadership members and wishes them success in their positions.
Considering the growing significance of Kurash in Iran’s sports system, the new leadership is expected to carry out effective work in this direction by signing MOU with similar sports within the country.
