As part of his official visit, the President of the European Kurash Confederation, Merampi Iliadis, held a meeting with the Minister of Sports of Georgia, Shalva Gogoladze. The meeting took place at the Georgian Ministry of Sports, where both parties discussed strengthening mutual cooperation and exchanged views on future plans.
According to the calendar plan of the International Kurash Association (IKA), the 2025 European Championship is scheduled to be held in Batumi, Georgia. This competition will feature athletes in the Senior, Junior, and Cadet categories.
During the meeting, Mr. Shalva Gogoladze emphasized that Georgia is proud to host this championship and noted that the event would contribute to the further popularization of Kurash among the country’s young generation.
Additionally, within the framework of the European Championship, which will take place on April 11-13, 2025, a seminar and certification exams for referees and coaches are planned to be organized on April 10-11 in collaboration with IKA and the International Kurash Institute (IKI).
This event is expected to provide a significant boost to the development of Kurash in Europe.
