Yesterday, the President of the International Kurash Association (IKA) visited Uzbekistan State University of Physical Education and Sports, the only institution in Central Asia specializing in training sports professionals.
Currently, more than 10,000 students study at this higher education institution in 45 different fields. The Kurash Faculty is the university’s largest academic department.
More than 50 professors and lecturers work at the Kurash Faculty, where over 1,000 students pursue bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Kurash.
Over the past two years, under the memorandum of cooperation signed between Uzbekistan State University of Physical Education and Sports and the International Kurash Institute, nearly ten International and national seminars and training courses have been organized.
This year, two online and offline training courses are also being conducted in collaboration with the university.
During the visit, a meeting was held with the university’s rector, Professor Rashid Matkarimov.
The meeting was attended by IKA General Secretary Mohammad Reza Nassiri, Rector of the International Kurash Institute Khabibulla Tadjiev, and Vice-Rector of Uzbekistan State University of Physical Education and Sports Sherzod Mirzanov.
During the discussions, the parties focused on strengthening cooperation with the university and enhancing the training and retraining of Kurash experts.
Professor Rashid Matkarimov emphasized that Kurash is an ancient tradition that has existed for a thousand years. He expressed his pleasure with the university’s close collaboration with the International Kurash Association and the International Kurash Institute in training Kurash experts.
The IKA President shared his suggestions and thoughts on further developing this cooperation.
As part of the visit, Haider Farman toured the university’s Kurash complex, familiarized himself with the facilities, and wished success to young Kurash athletes.
