Kurash is strengthening its position on the world stage and becoming an integral part of prestigious International competitions. In particular, the official inclusion of Kurash in the 2026 Asian Games will open up new roads for its further popularization. The selection of referees and sport organisers will be done in 2025 and 2026 known as “Road to Asian Games” program developed by the International Kurash Association (IKA) plays an important role in this process.
The “Road to Asian Games” program is aimed at organizing the process of preparing Kurash for participation in the Asian Games at the professional level. The program will create a two-stage system of training and examinations for referees, coaches and International Technical Officers (ITO).

The main stages of the program are:
1. Seminars for referees and ITOs:
– During the week-long training, participants learn about refereeing rules, ranking standards and basic competition procedures.
– The course is followed by special International Kurash Association examinations. Through this, referees are included in the ranking system and SELECTION FOR THE GAMES WILL BE done through this selection.
2. Seminars for coaches:
– Coaches will be trained in modern training methods.
– Coaches can upgrade their qualifications and receive category A providing they have B licence or passed the 3 months IKI course.This gives them the right to sit in the coaches’ seats next to the Gilam at the Asian Games.
3- Examinations and Ranking:
– The exam results are evaluated in a transparent manner.
– The highest scoring professionals will be awarded official International Certificates.
The “Road to Asian Games” program is significant in several areas:
– Ensuring transparency and fairness: the ranking system creates a healthy competitive environment among referees and coaches, ensuring fair evaluations.
– Improving the level of training: thanks to the program, the qualifications of Kurash professionals will be brought closer to world standards.
– Popularization of Kurash as a sport: the organization of high-level Kurash competitions at the Asian Games will raise its global prestige.
– Equal opportunities for participants: All national federations of the Asian continent will equally participate in the program and will have an opportunity to train their representatives at a high level.

As you know, in 2026, Aichi-Nagoya (Japan) will host the 20th Asian Summer Games. The program of this Game will include official Kurash competitions.
The Road to Asian Games program launched by the International Kurash Association is an important step in the development of Kurash on an International scale. It opens the way not only to the Asian Games, but also to the inclusion of Kurash in the program of the Olympic Games.
The International Kurash Association is currently preparing the final information on the time and place of these seminars and examinations.
