In order to participate in the final stage of this tournament, which has become one of the most important and prestigious competitions of the last 2 years in Kurash, athletes from all continents of our planet tested their skills.
And victory goes to the best of the best, in a word, to true Kurash professionals.
This year, the World Series Pro tournament has been organized in 10 weight categories. 80 Kurash athletes from 17 countries who achieved the highest ranking points in their weight categories at the world,continental championships and international tournaments organized on 4 continents qualified for the final.
Among the most famous Kurash athletes who visited the capital of the homeland of Kurash to participate in the last and most prestigious tournament of the year, there are world and continental champions, winners of the Continental Games and winners of international tournaments.
The competitions were as uncompromising as you can imagine.
The Kurash competitions started at the grand Universal Sports Complex in Tashkent, which became full with Kurash fans.
One by one, the names of the world’s professional Kurash athletes began to be selected for the semi-finals.
Unexpected results were also noted. Among the most experienced athletes, there were those who said goodbye to the competition in the first round.
In the second half of the day, according to tradition, the official opening ceremony of the World Series Pro international tournament for the Prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held.
At the event, the First Vice-President of the International Kurash Association, Minister of Sports of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Kurash Federation, Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev, Vice-Presidents of the International Kurash Association, President of the African Kurash Union Thomas Dunker, President of the European Kurash Confederation Merampi Iliadis, and General Secretary of the IKA Mohammad Reza Nassiri were invited to the stage.
The speakers said that they were looking forward to seeing all the participants in the homeland of Kurash.
The World Series Pro international tournament is recognized not only as a competition between Kurash athletes, but also as a celebration of friendship, courage and bravery.
It was announced that the scope and geography of this tournament have been increasing over the past 2 years.
The opening part of the competition, consisting of a series of Uzbek national melodies and charming dances, gave the audience a unique festive mood.
Then the most exciting moments of the competition began. The matches between the Kurash athletes who qualified for the semi-finals and finals excited the Kurash fans.
In the -66 kg weight category, the current Asian champion, the winner of the World Nomad Games, Otabek Khasanov faced Iranian Majid Vahid Barimanlou in the final.
It should be noted that the two athletes also competed in the final of the Asian Senior Championship held in Tehran, Iran this year. As in Tehran, Otabek Khasanov defeated his opponent in Tashkent and celebrated the championship.
Another exciting final match took place in the -73 kg weight category with the participation of two world champions. The current World Champion Maulenin Abilkaiyr from Kazakhstan tested the skills of Pakdel Elyas from Iran, who won the 2022 World Champion in Pune.
The dramatic match ended in favor of Maulenin Abilkaiyr.
In addition, the women’s matches were also full of interesting matches.
One of the central matches of the tournament was between the current World and Asian Champion, Asian Games winner Khilola Ortikbayeva and Salimighalehtaki Arezou from Iran.
Experienced athlete Khilola Ortikbayeva defeated her opponent with one Chala and one Yonbosh and won the tournament.
Another exciting final match was held between Lee Wan-Ting from Chinese Taipei and Khakhorova Komila.
Lee Wan-Ting is the current Asian champion. Last year, she won the World Championship and World Series Pro 2023.
The final match, which excited not only the fans but also the judges until the last seconds, was decided in favor of the Kurash athlete from Chinese Taipei. Lee Wan-Ting will return to her homeland with the gold medal of the tournament this year.
Moreover, rivals for a long time have also faced in the men’s +100 kg weight class. Mukhsin Khisomiddinov, the world and Asian champion, winner of the Asian Games and a number of international tournaments, once again tested himself with Shakarmamad Mirmamadov from Tajikistan. Mukhsin polvon, who was injured at the beginning of the match, finally decided the difficult match in his favor and added one more title as a two-time World Series Pro winner to his name. According to the tournament regulations, gold medalists received 10,000 USD, silver medalists 5,000 USD, and bronze medal winners 1,000 USD.
