Today, the city of Kabul hosted the 17th National Championship with the participation of about 150 of the strongest Kurash athletes, from 11 provinces of Afghanistan.
After the change of government in Afghanistan, it has become a tradition to hold many Kurash competitions and seminars in a row.
Participants in the National Championship will also initially take part in qualifying competitions in their regions. Winners and runners-up will have the right to participate in the International competition.
The strongest Kurash athletes came to the Gilam at the Afghan championship, which was held in Kabul.
Qualifying competitions were held in the first half of the day.
According to tradition, the official opening ceremony of the championship was held before the semi-final matches.
The ceremony was attended by IKA President Haidar Farman, IKA General Secretary Mohammad Reza Nassiri, Head of the IKA Administration Mansur Mirzaev and the Advisor of the IKA on strategic development of National Federations Elyor Mirzaev as official guests.
President of the Afghan Kurash Federation Zia Dashti declared the championship open and wished all participants good luck.
IKA President Haider Farman was also invited to speak at the opening ceremony. He thanked the government for its work in developing Kurash.
Acknowledging that Afghan Kurash athletes are one of the strongest Kurash athletes in the world, he wished good luck to the participants of the championship.
The names of the winners and runners-up were determined following heated and uncompromising competitions.
They will defend the honor of the country in the ranks of the Afghan Kurash team in future International competitions.
