The official opening ceremony of the 5th World Nomad Games was held today at the Astana Arena Sports Complex. More than 2,500 athletes from 89 countries and thousands of guests took part in the event, which glorifies the rich cultural heritage of nomadic civilizations. The goal of the Games is to unite peoples with a common nomadic past, as well as other peoples from different parts of the world, in a traditional celebration of sports and culture.
The Astana Arena Stadium, with a capacity of 30,000 spectators, was filled with spectators, among whom were the Heads of a number of countries and regions, such as Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, the Sakha Republic, Mongolia, as well as representatives of many International organizations. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the dignitaries and athletes and thanked those who came from far and near to take part in this important world event.
In his speech, President Tokayev emphasized the importance of preserving the historical influence and heritage of nomadic civilizations and emphasized that the World Nomad Games are not only a celebration of traditional sports, but also serve world unity.
The President of the country declared the 5th World Nomad Games officially open.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Organizing Committee’s Chairman of the 5th World Nomad Games Roman Sklyar and the President of the World Ethnosport Confederation Bilal Erdoğan. They highly appreciated the efforts of the athletes and organizers and recognized the importance of the event in preserving and popularizing the cultural heritage of nomadic peoples.
After the official program, the audience witnessed a wonderful cultural program that demonstrated the rich history of Kazakhstan. A series of theatrical performances were presented, telling the story of the Great Khans and the transformation of Kazakhstan into a modern state.
The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the International Kurash Association Haider Farman and Vice President Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov as honored guests.
