Piggs Peak, Eswatini – The Executive Committee of the African Kurash Union (AKU) arrived yesterday at the luxurious Hotel de Piggs Peak to finalize preparations for the 20th African Kurash Championship. The Executive Committee, composed of Mr. Thomas DUNKER, President of AKU, Mr. Martial NGOKA MONDET, Secretary General of AKU, Mr. Villem PAULSEN, Treasurer of AKU, and Mr. Darren LOUW, IT Manager for the competition, is working closely with the Eswatini Kurash Federation, represented by Mr. Tertius Esterhuysen, to ensure the smooth running of the event.
Site Inspections and Logistical Preparations
The committee conducted a thorough inspection of all key sites for the championship. From the competition hall, which will host athletes from all over Africa, to accreditation areas, everything was reviewed to ensure optimal conditions for participants and spectators. The anti-doping room was also inspected to ensure compliance with international standards.
Training and Coordination Meetings
To maintain high standards of officiating and technical management, training sessions for referees and International Technical Officials (ITOs) have been planned. These sessions are crucial to ensuring a fair and well-organized competition. Additionally, a conference room has been reserved for strategic meetings, allowing the committee to coordinate final details and ensure that all measures are in place for a seamless championship.
