The International Kurash Tournament hosted by Rome has ended
In Europe, there is a saying “All roads lead to Rome” since ancient times. Indeed, it is. Ancient Rome, one of the cradles of human civilization, brought together the world’s strongest Kurash athletes tonight.
World champions, winners of continental games and continental champions came to the Gilam for the prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the legendary city of Rome.
On the evening of July 24, a great Kurash holiday was organized in the magnificent NICOLA PIETRANGELI stadium in Rome.
The International Tournament organized under the leadership of the International Kurash Association in cooperation with the European Kurash Confederation, the Italian Kurash Academy, Kurash Federation of Uzbekistan and the Uzbek embassies in Italy served the exchange of cultures between the two countries.
It should be noted that for the last 20 years, tournaments for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan prize have been held in France, Egypt, China, Bulgaria, Germany, Iran and the Dominican Republic.
Italy is hosting this tournament for the first time.
First, the qualifying matches of the competition were held.
More than 50 Kurash athletes from 18 countries visited from Europe and Asia tested their strength.
During intense competitions, the most beautiful Usuls and unique techniques were demonstrated.
After that, the official opening ceremony of the tournament took place.
The ceremony was opened by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Italy Abat Fayzullaev.
In his speech, he sincerely congratulated everyone on the great Kurash holiday.
He noted that Kurash is one of the oldest sports, and that it is developing widely in the world because it embodies the ideas of nobility and humanism.
After that, the representatives of the Italian Kurash Academy, the country’s Sport Administration, the President of the European Kurash Confederation, Merampli Iliadis, and the General Secretary of the International Kurash Association, Mohammad Reza Nassiri, spoke and warmly congratulated everyone.
As part of the tournament, Uzbek and Italian artists, Uzbek national cuisine presented a holiday mood to the participants.
After the ceremony, semi-final and final competitions were held.
In the tournament held in men’s +100 and women’s +87 kg weight categories, the representatives of the homeland of Kurash clearly dominated.
In the men’s final, Mukhsin Khisomiddinov defeated his Romanian opponent Natea ILIE-DANIEL by one point Chala and won the gold medal.
The representative of Uzbekistan was also lucky in the women’s final.
World and Asian champion, World Series Pro Tournament winner Pokizakhon Kamoliddinova defeated her opponent Mill Ailin from Germany in 26 seconds with Khalol and became the winner of the International Tournament hosted by Rome.
This prestigious tournament is included in the IKA Ranking System, and winners and runners-up earn valuable ranking points for the World Series Pro Tournament.
The winners of the tournament were awarded with cash prizes, diplomas and medals.
The excitement of the matches took all spectators to the early morning wrapping up the competition at 01.00 am in the morning
