Yesterday, on April 29, the official opening ceremony and press conference of the International coaching seminar taking place in Tashkent was held in the conference hall of the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the First Vice-President of the International Kurash Association Adkham Ikramov took part in the conference and spoke.
– When we included Kurash in the Olympics of Five Initiatives, we were worried that there would be few participants.
But during the competitions, we saw that more than 280,000 Kurash athletes took part.
These are all amateur athletes. Because the Five Initiatives Olympics is a nationwide competition that promotes grassroots sports. It does not involve professional athletes.
About 300,000 Kurash athletes from all over the country came to the gilam to win.
I would like to mention another example. Kurash athletes from Uzbekistan won 4 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals at the Asian Games held in China last year. This is the largest share of medals in our country.
With the support of the President of Uzbekistan, H.E.Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a new era of Kurash has begun.
Many competitions, events and seminars are held by the International Kurash Association. We are working with clear goals and plans to further develop the popularization of Kurash.
