On April 11-12, an International Kurash Tournament dedicated to the memory of Pahlavon Mahmud was held in the city of Esfarayen of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
“Zeinal-Khan Traditional Wrestling Arena” in Esfarayen city invited about 50,000 fans to its bosom for two days. Despite the bad weather and heavy rain on the first day, the fans applauded the Kurash athletes for all their performances.
With the participation of the world’s strongest and most famous Kurash athletes from 14 countries, the performances were full of dramatic moments.
In the -90 and +90 kg weight categories, World champions, winners of the Asian Games, participants of the Olympic Games competed in Kurash and other single combat sports.
With a prize pool of 10,000 USD, this prestigious Kurash event is also included in the IKA Ranking system by the International Kurash Association, and the winners will also earn valuable ranking points for the World Series Pro tournament.
Today, the final stage of the competition has determined its winners.
In the 90-kilogram weight category Alikhan Nodirov from Uzbekistan took the first place, Masud Quybazo from Iran took the second place and won a silver medal.
Umar Rasolov and Khaqnazar Nazarov from Tajikistan took the third place together in this weight.
In the +90 kg weight category, there was no match for Mukhsin Hisomiddinov from Uzbekistan, the World Champion. In the final, he defeated another representative of the country of Kurash, Asror Hamidov, and became the winner of the President’s Award of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Sharifjon Nazarov from Tajikistan and Anton Brachov from Russia took the third place.
