The Kurash Federation of South Asia was founded in 2023 with the founding of the Asian Kurash Confederation.
India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh are members of the Federation, which began its activities with the aim of further popularizing Kurash in South Asian countries and organizing international competitions.
In the previous year, 2023, the first championship was entrusted to the Kurash Federation of Bangladesh. However, the first South Asian Championship was postponed to 2024 because the necessary work was not carried out on time.
This year, this prestigious Kurash competition is scheduled to be held in Kerala, India.
The championship, which will be held at Sacred Heart College from April 19 to 20, has already been held between two high school students and juniors under 20 years old.
According to Rajan Varghese, chairman of the organizing committee of the South Asian Kurash Championship 2024, in addition to the member states, the Maldivian team is also interested in participating in the championship.
These days, preparations have begun for the organization and holding of the Championship at a high level.
Applications for participation in the Championship will be accepted until March 20.
For reference, Kerala, India, has hosted many national and international Kurash competitions.
The Senior Asian Kurash Championship 2012, VIII Junior Kurash World Championship 2016, organized by the International Kurash Association, was also held in Kerala from 10 to 14 November 2016.
Boarding and loading will be free of charge during the Championship.
