Astana is one of the coldest cities in the world.
The city, an official capital of Kazakhstan Republic since 1997, is one of the closest regions to the North Pole of the Asian continent.
Currently, the city of Astana is hosting the National Senior and Junior Kurash Championship.
The national championship matches are organized in cooperation with the Kazakhstan Kurash Federation, the National Olympic Committee and the Physical Education and Sports Committee of Kazakhstan.
The official opening ceremony of the competition was held today.
Officials of sports organizations of the country, Astana city administration, members of the federation, athletes and mass media took part in it.
Mansur Mirzaev, head of the IKA Administration, is currently in Astana to directly observe the championship matches.
Speaking at the official opening ceremony of the competition, Mansur Mirzaev thanked the colleagues in charge for their services in organizing a wonderful kurash holiday and wished the athletes good luck.
The national championship serves to form the national team among senior and junior.
About 200 athletes are participating in the competition.
