Many international tournaments, championships and prestigious games have been included in the competition calendar this year.
The International Kurash Association is planning to announce the 2024 competition calendar soon.
One of the prestigious events scheduled this year is the International Sports Games “Children of Asia”.
The 8th time organized prestigious sports festival, will be held in the Yakutsk, Russian.
Yakutsk is one of the largest regions of the Russian Federation. The capital of the republic, Yakutsk, is the largest city built on the permafrost.
It was in 1996 that the “Children of Asia” games were held for the first time in Yakutsk. These games, organized in honor of the 100th anniversary of the modern Olympic movement, promote the values of mutual respect, friendship, personal development. In 2024, VIII International Sports Games “Children of Asia” will return to its historical homeland and will be held in Yakutsk.
The competition starts on June 26th and ends on July 7th.
Within the framework of the Games, there will be competitions for a total of 224 medals in 24 sports.
This is an average of 19% more than in the previous years.
For comparison, the 7th Asian Games hosted by the city of Vladivostok in 2022 had a total of 199 medals from 19 sports.
Since 2016, Kurash has been officially included in the “Children of Asia” Games Program.
July 3-5 this year, within the framework of the games, Kurash competitions will be held in 9 weight categories .
Males will compete in the following weight categories: -42, -50, -60, -71, and 83 kg, Females: -36, -44, 57, +63 kg. According to the Regulations of the Games, the age limit of participants is 14-15 (01.01.2009-31.12.2010) years old.
Kurash matches will be held at the “Elley Bootur” sports palace. This sports complex was built in 1996 as an ice palace, but comes with the possibility to organize martial arts competitions. The headquarters of the International Committee of “Children of Asia” and the Museum of “Children of Asia” Games are located in the sports complex with a capacity of more than 1000 spectators. Moreover Taekwondo and Judo competitions are also held at the “Elley Bootur.”
