The ending year was full of happy events in the world of Kurash. Many Kurash competitions, events and seminars were organized throughout the year.
Important decisions were made regarding the development of Kurash worldwide.
At the end of the year the International Kurash Association traditionally announces the names of “the best of the year.”
The best male athlete of the year – Mukhsin Khisomiddinov, – +100 kg, Uzbekistan

The best male coach of the year – Dordkoli Tejenov – Turkmenistan
The national kurash team of Turkmenistan actively participated in all competitions throughout the year. They won 1 silver and 6 bronze medals at the Asian Championship held in Hangzhou, China; 4 bronze medals at the WSP International Tournament Asian qualifying stage; 1 silver and 1 bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games; 5 gold, 6 silver, and 4 bronze medals at the XIV World Senior Kurash Championship.
The best female coach of the year – Xu Yuhua – China
The China women’s national team led by Xu Yuhua won 4 gold and 1 bronze medals at the Asian Championship; 2 gold at the 19th Asian Summer Games.
Male Referee of the Year – Vikrant Kumar – India
For his worthy participation in all Kurash competitions
The best female referee of the year – Tang Wai Bunn – Malaysia
For her worthy participation in all Kurash competitions.
The best national federation of the year is the Turkmenistan Kurash federation
Turkmenistan Kurash Federation has successfully participated in many Kurash competitions this year.
They won 1 silver and 7 bronze medals at the Asian Senior Kurash Championship, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals at the 19th Asian Summer Games. Turkmen athletes won 5 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals at the 14th World Senior Kurash Championship held in Ashgabat on November 24-29 and took 2nd place overall.
The best confederation of the year is the European Kurash Confederation
During 2023, many Kurash competitions and seminars were organized on the European continent.
Continental championships, WSP international tournament qualifiers and Paris international tournaments for the prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan were organized at a high level.
For the first time, a presentation competition was held as part of the European Games held in Poland.
The best technique of the year – Basel Walaa Eldegb – Egypt
In the 81 kg weight category, he defeated his opponent by the “Yelka” method in the finals of the African qualifying round of the WSP international tournament. Basel Walaa used beautiful methods in all the matches until the final and won a pure honest victory over their opponents.
The Best Kurash Promoter– Adkham Ikramov
IKA First Vice-President of the International Kurash Association, the Minister of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Adkham Ikramov, has done great work during the year 2023 to develop Kurash, increase its popularity, placing Kurash at the Nomad Games,(Ethen sports 2023 Uzbekistan) taking an active role in the coordination of WSP.
The Best Breakthrough of the Year– World Series Pro international tournament
During the year, the World Series Pro tournament covered every continent of the world and made a significant contribution to the selection of the strongest athletes and ensuring their participation in the finals.
The Best Kurash competition of the year – the World Senior Kurash Championship
The XIV World Championship hosted by Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on November 23-28 was one of the best championships in the history of the World Kurash Championships.
More than 500 participants from about 60 countries attended this championship.
All efforts were made to organize and conduct the event at the highest level by the Government of Turkmenistan.
