Yesterday 25th of November, the Congress of the International Kurash Association was held in the meeting hall of the Sport Hotel with the participation of representatives of more than 50 national federations present.

The meeting, which lasted about 4 hours, considered about 20 issues and appropriate decisions were approved.

After roll call, the Congress was opened with a congratulatory speech by the President of IKA.

Heider Farman warmly congratulated all the delegates on the Congress. He emphasized that everyone has a great contribution to the progress of the Kurash.

After that, statement of the International Kurash Association minutes of Congress held in 2022 in Puna, India was approved by the delegates.

On the next issue on the agenda, the full report on preparations for the World Championship was heard by Allaberdi Saparov, Chairman of the State Committee for Physical Education and Sports of Turkmenistan.

Further, organizational issue of the Congress was discussed.

Abdulhadi Mohammad, Chairman of the IKA election committee, gave detailed information about the candidates for the IKA President and Directing Committee elections.

Delegates voted for all candidates separately all approved.

After that, the newly elected IKA Directing Committee was invited to the Congress table.

An important issue on the agenda – the report of the Presidents of Continental Kurash Confederations was heard. First, Thomas Dunker reported on the African continent.

After that, European Kurash Confederation President Mirabi Iliades and Pan American Kurash Confederation President Jaime Casanova gave a report to the participants on the work done in 2023.

President of Asia-Oceania Kurash Confederation Komil Roziev could not participate in the meeting due to health problems.

Habibulla Tajiev, Rector of the International Kurash Institute, also presented a report on the seminars held and scientific-theoretical activities.

The next issue on the agenda was the controversial situation in the federations of India, Italy and Bangladesh.

These issues will be studied in detail with the relevant national federations and official sports organizations. Appropriate decisions will be made.

After that, the President of IKA announced a good news that new members would be accepted into  the World Kurash family.

Represented by the European Kurash Confederation, the national federations of Belgium and Ireland have been elected as new members of the International Kurash Association.

Tajikistan and Lithuania were re-admitted to the membership due to a change in the management of the Kurash federations.

During the congress, the issues of the participants of the refugee community were also discussed. Athletes with official refugee status and official documents are now allowed to participate in all competitions held by the International Kurash Association under the new criteria.

After that, the report of the representative of the Uzbekistan Kurash Federation, Sardor Karimov was heard about holding World Series Pro international tournament for the prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

World Series Pro is the most prestigious Kurash competition organized throughout the year. Detailed information was provided on the achievements and shortcomings of the continental qualifying rounds.

Next up, the Congress announced that the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, scheduled to be held in Bangkok and Pattaya, Thailand in February and March 2024, have been postponed until after the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Then, President of the IKA read out the names of the new Chairmen of the IKA standing committees.

During the Congress, questions raised by the federations of Romania, Congo, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Venusuela, Saudi Arabia, Malta and Egypt were answered in detail by the IKA President and IKA General Secretary.

At the end of the congress, souvenirs were presented to representatives of national federations and a group photo session was held.
