On June 23 of this year, Congolese Kurash Federation officials visited General Leslers Military Training Command and Congolese Army Forces in Brazzaville.
Kurash Referee Seminar was held with the support of IKA 3 Star Kurash Referee, Guy Blanchard AMBETO, Head of the Congolese and African Kurash Union Referee Commission, Technical Director Gyblain MASSENET and Deputy Secretary General Roddy KIBA throughout the visit.
During the seminar, military officials received detailed information about the history, methods, rules and technical and tactical foundations of kurash.
Considering that most of the participants came from judo, the main topic was showing the differences between these two sports.
At the end of the seminar, 9 of the 30 members of the team expressed their readiness to become kurash referees, and the rest to participate in competitions as athletes.
The Congolese Kurash Federation and the Congolese Army Forces have reached a formal agreement to organize Kurash coaching and refereeing seminars in the future.
According to Guy AMBETO, who was selected the best referee of 2022 by IKA, the organization of kurash clubs in the Congolese army is a new direction. The Congolese Army Kurash Championships are scheduled to start next year. Many other military kurash groups are organized throughout the year
