The President of the African Kurash Union, Thomas Dunker, visited Cairo to discuss issues related to the 19th African Kurash Championship and the continental qualification of the WSP tournament.
During the visit, Mr. Dunker was accompanied by the President of the Egyptian Kurash Committee, Mohamed Sabih, and the Technical Director, Reham Mustafa.
The head of the African Kurash Union and the officials of the federation carried out preliminary control of the sports complex, transport, hotel, catering and all other necessary facilities where the competitions will be held.
The continental championship will be held at the Heliopolis stadium in the center of Cairo. The stadium is the largest and most modern sports complex in the country. It has halls for many different competitions that can accommodate 1,000 up to 18,000 spectators. Another important aspect of the complex is that it has a modern cooling system. It provides a much better convenience for the audience. This stadium is perfect for hosting the African Championship.

The next part of the monitoring activities was the inspection of hotels in the capital.
Based on Mr. Sobih’s recommendation, Glorious Hotel (4 stars) was selected as the official hotel of the championship. The modern hotel is only 15 minutes away from Cairo Stadium.

According to the Competition Program, refereeing and coaching seminars and weighin processes will also take place in this hotel.

Also, important issues such as transportation between the airport, hotel and stadium, necessary equipment for holding the competition and souvenirs for the participants were reviewed during the control activities.

During the visit, Mr. Dunker participated in the National Seminar and Examination of Kurash Referees and Coaches organized by the Egyptian Kurash Federation.
