As we previously reported, the practical stage of negotiations on the inclusion of kurash in the European Youth Games Program has begun according to the IKA Presidents vision.
Yesterday, on April 5th, Vice-President of IKA, President of the European Kurash Confederation, Merabi Iliadis, held a meeting with the President of the European Olympic Committee, Spiros Kapralos, in Athens.
The meeting provided detailed information about the development of kurash in Europe, national and international competitions organized by national federations, refereeing and coaching seminars.
Due to the fact that gender equality is the main priority in kurash competitions, it was confirmed that one of the requirements of the IOC recognition are met, that men and women participate equally.
Another point discussed at the meeting was that one of the main aspects is the lack of injuries during the competitions, as the rules of kurash do not allow strangling and armlocks.
Positive agreements were reached at the end of the meeting. The time of the next negotiations on the discussion of several technical issues regarding the European Youth Games Program was planned.
