The magnificent Shivachhatrapati Sports Complex in the city of Pune is in the spotlight of the world kurash.

Since today, athletes from more than 60 countries are taking part in competitions in Shivachhatrapati.

Initially, according to Indian traditions, a coconut was split, a ribbon was cut and flower petals were scattered.

Kurash competitions were started by IKA Secretary General, Technical Director Mohammad Reza Nassiri and President of the Kurash Association of India Ramesh Pople.

According to the championship program, athletes in 6 weight categories will compete today. Men will compete in the weight categories of 60, -66, -73 kg, and women 78, -87, +87 kg.

Competitions are led by an experienced team of referees of the International Kurash Association.

According to the today’s program, official opening ceremony of the Championship will take place before the semifinals and finals.

The championship competitions are broadcast directly through the Youtube platform and several local TV channels.
