The last 3 months have been a real front for us. Our team probably doesn’t even know exactly how many hours they slept a day. But we are all happy about it. We are glad that we have been entrusted with holding the most important and prestigious Kurash event.
We are pleased for the trust and support given to us by the President of the International Kurash Association H. Farman and the Vice President of IKA, the main sponsor and founder of Kurash India, Mr. Jagdish Tatler, and we will try to justify this trust.
Today, kurash in India has become one of the most popular sports. The results we are achieving are worthy of it.
I can proudly say that at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, our Indian athletes won two medals (one silver and one bronze) and was highly appreciated by our Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi and then he invited them to the Indian residence in New Delhi.
At the same time, it should be noted that our athletes for the first time in their history won 5 silver and 10 bronze medals in the Asian Junior Kurash Championship in Chonburi, Thailand, taking a worthy place among other countries.
At first, when the IKA entrusted to India to host the 13th World Senior Kurash Championship, our Association had many difficulties before our federation. But everything was successfully resolved ahead of schedule thanks to the efforts of many people who has carried out their hard work day and night. We are glad that as a result of teamwork under the leadership of Jagdish Tatler and Smith Shivazhi Nikam and Ankush Naagar of the Maharashtra Kurash Association, the World Championship will be held. Starting from booking the stadium and ending with the issue of visas from different countries, our team worked together.
Another thing that we have to acknowledge separately is that the World Championship also allows us to gain very valuable experience.
Mr. Jagdish Tatler, the main sponsor and founder of Kurash India, contacted all the concerned ministries of the Government of India to find out everything and received permission from officials to host the championship. After hard work on the visa problem, some countries were unable to obtain a visa due to diplomatic relations with the respective countries. Transportation services, meals and reception of guests – all this are done by collective labor. We work together with the IKA headquarters team promptly. Their support becomes important in all matters. In addition, I would like to inform you that the teams of many countries arrived earlier, but everything is going smoothly and we managed to provide them with the necessary services in accordance with the protocol.
We also sent a sincere invitation to the President of the Asian Olympic Council, mr. Raj Randhir Singh, and he announced that he would definitely come to our World Championships. Our Association exists in 28 states. There is a state registration. Thousands of children are involved in kurash here. They participate in various championships, from the district level to the state level.
I am sure that the World Championship is a new chapter for kurash in India. India is contributing to a further increase in the ranks of the Kurash family.
