At the initiative of the Philippine Sports Commission (Ministry of Sports), a women’s martial arts festival is being held in the capital Manila.
At the prestigious sports event, which is scheduled for November 12-17, it is planned to hold demonstrations, a master class and small competitions in more than 10 sports.
This project is regularly organized by the national organization for gender equality, representatives of international organizations in the Philippines and sports federations.
Kurash is also officially included in the program of the event from this year.
The President of the Philippine Kurash Federation was established in 2018. Despite several years of kurash interruption with the coronavirus pandemic, the President of the Federation, Mr. Roland Lam, has carried out extensive works to further promote kurash in the Philippines.
Filipino athletes participated in the Asian Youth Championship held in Chonburi, Thailand. This year, the Southeast Asian Games, held in the Vietnamese city of Hanoi, won 1 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze medals in the SEA games.
On November 12, the opening ceremony of the festival and the kurash exhibition were organized at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum sports complex in Manila.
Events were attended by representatives of the general sports community, the Philippine Sports Commission, National Olympic Committee and the Government.
