IKA media team will present interviews of the participants of the World Championship
Guy Blanchard AMBETO – IKA referee (Republic of the Congo)
I’m from the Congo. In 2012, the Republic of the Congo hosted the African Championship. From that moment on, kurash officially entered the Republic of the Congo. National Federation was created and operates to date.
I have been actively involved in kurash sports since 2010. My student period was spent in the Republic of South Africa. I started practicing kurash under the guidance of my mentor Mr. Thomas Dunker, President of the African Kurash Union.
Since then I have been participating in kurash. I have participated in many continental and world championships, international tournaments. As an athlete, I think I have achieved a good result. I have gold and silver medals of different levels.
When I returned to my home I realized that in order to popularize kurash in Congo, a lot needs to be done.
I admit it was difficult. And of course, this will not be an easy task. My experience in organizing refereeing and competitions also contributed to my development.
Today, kurash is held in sports clubs in all regions of the Congo. Young people love kurash and they see his future with kurash. This is our achievement.
Today I am responsible for refereeing in the African Kurash Union. Since 2014, I have been working on a national plan. I am a 2 star level referee.
This year we have re-developed the national judging system. Currently, we have about 40 referees at the national and continental level.
This year we will organize refereeing seminars again and expand our ranks.
I am very glad that I was invited to the World Kurash Senior Championship in India. This is a high trust for me and the referees of the African continent.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the President of IKA and the Technical Director of IKA. Only highly qualified and talented referees may take part in a championship of this scale. So I try to be worthy of it.
