Mr. Seiko Wazaki has been working as a referee director in the Japanese Kurash Federation for many years.
In addition, Mr. Wazaki lectures on ethnography and sports theory to students as a professor at the Japanese universities of Kyoto and Chubu.
Under his authorship, several books and scientific articles on the history of kurash and the theory of methods were published in Japanese.
In 2016, under the authorship of Mr. Wazaki, a documentary film dedicated to the kurash traditions, traditional wedding kurash was shown on the largest Japanese NHK TV channel.
Today, a meeting was held at the IKA headquarters with the participation of Mr. Wazaki, Secretary General, Technical Director of IKA Reza Nassiri, Head of IKA staff Mansur Mirzayev.
At the meeting, IKA Secretary General Mr. Nassiri thanked Mr.Wazaki for his work on the development of kurash.
He stressed that the Japanese Kurash Federation was the first federation that was established within the framework of the International Kurash Association.
However, due to the Covid-19 situation around the world today has also affected the activity of the federation, national championships suspended and in this regard, IKA expessed its readiness to support a further development of the Federation’s activity.
Mr. Wazaki said that the last three years have been difficult for the federation, but since this year the federation’s leadership has been working tirelessly to participate in all international events.
He said that the National kurash championship of Japan will be held in October this year. This championship will serve as a qualifying tournament for the upcoming Kurash World Championship among adults.
During the meeting, Mr. Wazaki expressed a desire to conduct research on kurash at the IKI and the parties agreed on strengthening the relations of mutual scientific cooperation in the field of kurash theory, methods and methodology.
