The V International Kurash Beach Tournament was held this Saturday, June 4, at the Beach Volleyball Court of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in this Dominican capital with resounding success.
On the occasion, the delegations from the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Ecuador took the lead in the so-called Pan-American Kurash Week organized by the Dominican Federation of Kurash, Fedokurash, chaired by Professor Israel Caraballo Jiménez.
Indeed, the Dominican Republic achieved a gold medal, two silver medals and three bronze medals and thus placed in the first position of the fair where they competed in the open weight divisions for both women and men, likewise, Haiti won a gold medal and second place and Ecuador with a bronze medal for third place.
The gold medal winners were Josías Vizcaino (Dominican Republic) and Yuroset Timesis (Haiti) and the silver ones for Saul Valdez and María Sánchez both from the Dominican Republic, being the bronze ones for Cesar Naranjo (Ecuador) and Joel Ureña, Nikauris Ozuna. and Yerlines Martínez, these last three from the Dominican Republic.
The event of this ancestral discipline of more than 3,500 years of existence had the endorsement of the Pan-American Kurash Union, chaired by engineer Jaime Casanova Martínez, where athletes from Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Venezuela, and the United States competed, among others.
The event was inaugurated with the words of the president of the Pan American Kurash Union, Jaime Casanova Martínez, followed by Professor Israel Caraballo Jiménez, who is the president of Fedokurash, and for his part Julián Abreu Jiménez, secretary general of the Pan American Kurash Union as well. He addressed those present to highlight this kurash discipline in the beach mode.
Previously, the parade of the teams, the national anthem and the kick-off of the event was held, which was attended by athletes from the Dominican Republic, Haiti, the United States, Ecuador and Venezuela, among others.
The technicians who performed in the event were Franklin Pérez, Manuel Guerrero, Elvis Mateo, Juana Morban, Nathanael Vázquez and Villa who led the sports part of the contest and who imparted justice in the different combats in the presence of a large audience present.
The international delegates present were Professor Ulrick Louis-Charles from Haiti, Mr. Floresmilo Naranjo from Ecuador, Professor Yuneska Leo from Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Yovanka Diaz from the United States.
The activities of the Pan American Kurash Week continue tomorrow June 5 with the Pan American Kurash Championships for Children, Youth and Seniors; female and male and the awarding of the Painting Contest with the Kurash Theme by the president of the Jury of Honor chaired by the architect Juan Eligio Barceló.
In the continuation of the activities, the International Seminar on arbitration, grading system and high-level training is planned from June 6 to 9, which will conclude the activities of the Pan American Kurash Week.
